Sensitive Skin
Sensitive skin is usually a symptom of a different condition. These conditions, luckily enough are rarely serious. Most individuals do not even realise they have sensitive skin until they have a bad reaction or outbreak to a cosmetic product such as soap, moisturiser or makeup. Sensitive skin comes in many forms. Some of us with sensitive skin face dry skin problems which in turn causes the skin to itch, flake, peel, crack and bleed. Others with sensitive skin have more severe reactions such as eczema, which might cause pus, infections and bleeding when scratched.
Some of us have skin care routines that help to keep our skin in prime condition. However, every skincare routine varies from person to person, one might work for you but it might not work for someone else. This is why finding a perfect skincare routine can be time-consuming and costly. Skincare routines can also be a hassle. After a long day at work, sometimes all we want to do is take a shower, lie in bed and relax. We wouldn’t want to spend an additional 20 to 30 minutes performing a skincare routine. Being inconsistent will also lead to ineffective results at times and there will still be some sebum or debris clogging pores on the face. If we are not consistent with our skincare routines, we will not see the benefits and in turn, find it a waste of time and money to perform a proper skincare routine.
How can we help?
Chelsea Aesthetics created our signature Express Deep Clean Facial specifically for sensitive skin. Express Deep Clean Facial is a 5-step deep cleaning process that combines the accuracy of ultrasonic technology with the benefits of PDT light to remove all debris and kill off all acne-causing bacteria. Steam is first used to open the pores and a suction device is used to wash the skin and loosen debris. An ultrasonic cleanser is then used to remove all debris, renewing clean and dirt-free skin. PDT light is then used to kill off the bacteria that cause acne and tightens your skin’s pores and elasticity. Finally, a soothing mask is used to hydrate, soothe and rejuvenate your skin.

You should use sunscreen rated at least SPF 30 or higher. Keep an eye out for the active ingredients as well. It should be only zinc oxide or titanium dioxide. Any other active ingredient might lead to an allergic reaction. Unlike chemical sunscreens, ingredients deflect UV rays instead of absorbing them.
Yes, a good diet will positively impact your skin. Conversely, a bad diet will negatively affect your skin.
If you are unsure about a product, you could apply a small amount behind your ear and leave it on overnight. If your skin is not irritated, repeat the process but this time place it alongside an eye. If everything is okay, the product should be safe for use on any part of your face or body.
In addition to our recommended facial, we would advise you to always keep your face clean. This means cleansing your face every day with a cleanser, and moisturise it to ensure it stays hydrated. Avoid touching your face unnecessarily and remember to apply sunblock to protect your skin.
The answer to this question depends on the severity and sensitivity of your skin. In general, a facial for sensitive skin is considered safe for most sensitive skin. If you are unsure, please contact your dermatologist or health professional before trying any facial.
