What Makes Your Skin Oily?

Skin pores are found in everyone. Pores are the tiny dots on the surface of your skin. They contain a sebaceous gland that produces the skin’s oil to keep it protected and moist. People with larger, more visible pores tend to have oiler skin. Some reasons why pores tend to enlarge are excessive exposure to the sun and also signs of ageing. Some other reasons why your skin is oiler than others also include genetics, the humidity of the country you’re in, stress from life or work, and also overdoing your skincare routine.

Oily skin can clog pores and lead to increased chances of acne breakouts. However, having oily skin isn’t always bad. The oil produced helps to preserve the skin, and people with oilier skin tend to have thicker, more hydrated, better looking skin. The key to having good skin is to strike a balance between having too little oil and too much oil on your skin.

Tips to Prevent Excessively Oily Skin

Maintaining a balance between natural oil production and hydrating your face is needed for the best-looking skin. Washing your face every morning, evening and especially after exercise is important. However, you do not want to scrub your skin as it irritates your skin and could make it look worst.

Apply moisturizer daily. Although you may have oily skin, you cannot forget to apply moisturiser to keep your skin hydrated. You could even look for moisturisers that contains a broad-spectrum sunscreen with an SPF of 30 or higher to cut down on time spent.
